Celtic Credit Union named in UK Government Financial Inclusion Strategy
I’m delighted to share that Celtic Credit Union has been named in the UK Government’s recently published Financial Inclusion Strategy. We have long known that financial education at an early age will have a lasting and robust impact on financial capability.
The support of Welsh Government in helping us to drive growth in our well-established Schools and Communities Programmes has been instrumental in enabling us to expose young people to basic budgeting and money management skills from a young age and teaching them to have a healthy relationship with money.
Since 2005 almost 4,000 children have opened Junior Saver accounts with Celtic Credit Union and have saved over half a million pounds. Our pupil-led programme of Junior Savings Clubs in schools is growing every day, teaching real-world skills and encouraging whole-school involvement. One quantifiable measure of success came in the summer of 2025 when one of our Swansea primary schools won the Wales-wide Enterprise Troopers Competition with their Junior Savings Club – securing a £2,500 prize for their school!
I’m so proud of our work in this important field and determined to ensure that Celtic Credit Union continues to play a leading role, delivering financial awareness for future generations.
