It is with great sadness that on 19th December 2021, Celtic Credit Union received the sad news that our former Chair, Malcolm Packer, had passed away suddenly after a short illness.

Malcolm was a retired engineer who had a long and successful career working overseas in the West Indies, Italy and Greece, as well as in the UK.  He had been a dedicated volunteer all his adult life, serving as a part-time fire fighter in the Auxiliary Fire Service Green Goddess Team and as a Special Constable with both Kent and South Wales Police Forces.

Malcolm was appointed to the Board of Directors at Elim Housing Association in Bristol before returning to Neath where he volunteered with the Citizens Advice Service for over 5 years prior to joining Neath Port Talbot Credit Union – initially as a volunteer, then a Director and latterly as our Chairman.  He continued to serve as a Director after his retirement as Chair, attending a Board Meeting just a few days before he passed away.

We at CCU extend our deepest sympathies to Malcolm’s family and friends.  He was a loyal servant to our credit union and we shall miss him very much.
